ET Celebrating at the Padang!

Unknown to any Singaporean, E.T. the alien landed in Singapore on the 7 July 2010. He saw the animation of how the fireworks would look like on Youtube. A friendly Singaporean, who managed to get a few rehearsal tickets to the Padang rehearsal for the 10th of July , meant especially for the young students, extended a warm hand of friendship to this alien and he thoroughly enjoyed the performance and the patriotic spirit! ET enjoyed the song "Home" very much. But he did not phone home as he is seriously thinking of making here his home! And guess what, he has got someone from outer space joining him in this first outing - Buzz Lightyear!

THE CELEBRATION OF 45

Singapore gained independence and became a Republic on August 9th, 1965. In 45 years, Singapore has been transformed into a city of enviable status. Many international citizens and aliens who have stepped foot on our soil have, i'm sure, contemplated setting up businesses and also calling our little red dot their homes.

A reputable alien sets foot; yes, a world-renowned alien is seen with the collaterals of National Day 2010!!! Today's post is the first in the series of National Day Celebration! Watch out for more surprises!

Yes, E.T. phoned home but he might call Singapore his HOME!

Oh....So Sweet ;-)

Dear Reader:

I'm sure from the posts that i have posted over the last two to three years that you would have realised that i am not out to do this for a purely commercial reason. It's a passion which i have developed over the years since my secondary school art teacher introduced us to air-dry clay. For me, it's a work-life balance thing. I just like to feel and knead clay and materialise projects which my imagination has set forth upon. And presto, one day, individuals and schools started to ask me to teach them.

Blogshops and online businesses dealing with air-dry clay or polymer clay have sprung up worldwide. Mixing hobby with business is a pleasurable business but closer scrutiny will tell you whether it is more for business or more for passion and skill. At the end of the day, it's back to the latin for 'let the buyer beware' - caveat emptor

Here's a red and white bouquet done by an appreciative person whom i have introduced Air-Dry Clay to, together with some encouraging testimonial. Thanks Emmaline, it really made my day!

"you were the one who introduced me to jumping clay a few years ago :)My friend and I were visiting NLB ((National Library Board)(HQ) and you happened to have a stall recommending the benefits of air-dry clay :) I would just like to say that thanks to your recommendation, I went to buy air-dry clay subsequently and it has been an extremely rewarding experience for me.

Thank you!

I JUST HAVE TO TALK ABOUT PAUL THE OCTOPUS

I take a break from traditional food to a topic that is still hot on the lips of the recently concluded WORLD CUP. I did NOT subscribe to cable but i followed the scores. I must say that the WORLD CUP 2010 was made more interesting not just by the discussion of the beautiful game itself but also by the vuvuzelas, and most certainly by PAUL THE OCTOPUS (you can say that i'm still talking about food here).

Here's a glimpse of PAUL with the CUP (Not the WORLD CUP - it's with SPAIN) but with the cup which was awarded by the IFPC (International Federation for Professional Cephalopods).

"We are honoured to present you, PAUL, with the Lifetime Honorary Doctorate in Score Divination for life-and-death matches. You are also hereby commended for bringing honour to the Cephalopod Species. Please accept my heartiest congratulations once again!"
